Faith-Based Services & Volunteer Programs
We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our volunteers who serve our inmates and returning citizens. Our volunteers are an invaluable resource to our department as they provide programming that focuses on changing criminal behavior and mindsets which are extremely beneficial to their rehabilitation process.
We recognize the importance of our volunteers having access to the volunteer handbook and application process that will assist you in serving with confidence in our correctional facilities. Listed below are the volunteer handbook and application packets for two (2) types of volunteers.

Volunteer Training
The in-person volunteer training is required for NEW volunteers and current volunteers who were trained prior to January 1, 2018. It is HIGHLY recommended you attend your first-time training or required renewal training at the facility you will be serving. Please contact your facility Chaplain at the email, address and/or phone number listed below for the training dates provided at each of these facilities. Trainings may also be held in Albuquerque. Please click on the GARA tab for scheduled training dates. All other volunteers need to complete the Renewal Application packet and send to the Chaplain of the facility you primarily serve in order to maintain an active volunteer status. Thank you again for your commitment to the men and women of the NMCD.
For more information or questions about volunteering, please send emails to NMCD-Volunteers@state.nm.us
This Packet is for New Volunteers. Please complete and submit to Coordinator of Community outreach and Faith Based Services Jason Webb Jason.Webb2@state.nm.us fourteen (14) days before the training date.
This packet is for volunteers who have attended a volunteer training after December 17, 2020. Complete the packet and submit back to the Coordinator of Community Outreach and Faith Based Services Jason Webb. Jason.Webb2@state.nm.us
