Constituent Services
The Constituent and Family Services is a central point of contact between the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) and inmate family members. Our office assists New Mexico constituents, legislative entities, other state agencies, and the public. This office also facilitates numerous inquiries sent by the Governor’s Office
We assist with navigating a complex correctional system and encourage strong family and community ties that promote the inmate’s reentry success.
We offer open lines of communication for general, yet relevant information to questions or concerns. Because we only provide general information, specific questions about an offender’s status should be addressed to the institutional caseworker and/or the probation & parole field officer.
Specific concerns are addressed by referencing department policy and/or appropriate referrals to other areas of the Department to address. Please be mindful this office is a channel for information and will not circumvent departmental policies and procedures.
Please note: There is a large volume of work on a daily basis and staff make every effort to address each question or complaint in a timely and efficient manner.
We strive to respond within five business days, but please understand some issues may take longer.
