Family & Offender Resources

The Family Constituent Services & Correspondence Office serves the growing number of families directly affected by the incarceration of a loved one. As the central point of contact between the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) and inmate family members, we assist with navigating a complex correctional system.

We utilize a family-focused approach to support and encourage strong family and community ties that promote the inmate’s reentry success.

We promote open lines of communication for general, yet relevant information to questions or concerns. Because we only provide general information, specific questions about an offender’s status should be addressed to the institutional caseworker and/or the probation & parole field officer.

We respond to specific concerns by referencing department policy and appropriate referrals to other areas of the Department to address. Please be mindful that this office is a channel for information and will not circumvent departmental policies and procedures.

Our office assists New Mexico constituents, legislative entities, other state agencies, and the general public. This office also responds to numerous inquiries sent to the Governor’s Office.
